Abstract

Social-emotional intelligence is an individual's ability to recognize, understand, and positively manage their own and others' emotions. Social-emotional development is critical to a child's development, formed through learning experiences within the family, peer group, and school. In the context of elementary education, the development of social-emotional intelligence forms an important foundation for the formation of character, empathy, and social skills in children. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in developing children's social-emotional intelligence in elementary schools. This research was conducted at SDN 4 Kertamukti using descriptive qualitative methods, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that teachers play a crucial role as role models and facilitators in fostering students' social-emotional intelligence through collaborative learning activities, class discussions, and reflection on the values of empathy and responsibility. However, the implementation of social-emotional development still faces obstacles such as limited learning resources and limited time allocation. This research is expected to serve as a reference for teachers and schools in improving learning oriented towards students' social-emotional development in elementary schools.
