Peningkatan Keterampilan Menulis Deskripsi Dengan Media Gambar Kelas III SDN 3 Mojorejo Lamongan

This study aims to improve the descriptive writing skills of third-grade students at SDN 3 Mojorejo through the use of picture media as a learning tool. The problem underlying this research is the low ability of students to compose complete and systematic descriptive essays, both in terms of vocabulary selection, sentence construction, and idea development. This study employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design developed by Kemmis and McTaggart with 24 third-grade students as research subjects, consisting of 12 male students and 12 female students. Data collection methods were conducted through observation, interviews, field notes, and analysis of students' written work. Data analysis used the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the use of picture media effectively improved students' descriptive writing skills, both in terms of idea development, vocabulary selection, and the construction of more structured and coherent sentence structures. In addition, picture media also succeeded in increasing students' motivation, enthusiasm, and active participation in writing learning. Although there are still obstacles in the form of the need for intensive mentoring for some students, the findings of this study confirm that picture media function as concrete stimuli that facilitate visual thinking processes and stimulate students' written expression in accordance with dual coding theory. This research provides a practical contribution to the development of visual media-based writing instruction in elementary schools.
