Abstract

The use of the Discovery Learning Learning Model assisted by Concrete Media aims to improve the understanding of the concept of human movement in grade 6 of SDN 02 Parit Merdeka. The research subjects were 18 students and was carried out in 2 cycles, with planning, implementation, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The Concrete Media used was a simple replica of a human hand showing the relationship between human muscles and bones when moved. Data collection was carried out through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the understanding of the concept of human movement. In the first cycle the average student score was 70 and in the second cycle after improvements reached 85. Thus, the application of the Discovery Learning model assisted by concrete media is effective in improving the understanding of science concepts, namely in the material of the human movement system in elementary schools.
