Instilling national values from elementary school is an important step in building students' character. This study aims to illustrate how the implementation of cooperative learning strategies can improve students' understanding of national values. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with fifth-grade students at a public elementary school as subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that cooperative learning can increase student participation, foster a spirit of cooperation, respect for differences, and increase tolerance among others. Through discussions, problem-solving, and group presentations, students not only understand national values but also internalize them in their behavior. Thus, cooperative learning strategies can be an effective strategy in character education in elementary schools.
